SHE WAS FULL OF LIFE
Tireless in her quest
for truth and beauty,
there will never be
another Etta B.
Always busy
grinding organic
whole wheat flower
to bake Chapatis,
the best bread for
her young 3 kids to eat.
She scorned modern
conveniences—
dishwashers,
washing machines,
and dryers, preferring
to dry laundry in the sun
to absorb the scent.
Geschmack!— she ‘d smile.
Curious about everything,
she made art out of found objects,
including fat ladies’ behinds,
lint, shadows on a wall,
and old bottles and tools,
on which she placed text,
each word a teaching—
an invitation to meditation.
